MBA Graduate Jobs: NUS Business School

As fall progresses, more business schools will report the job placements and earnings for their recent graduates. One of the most recent schools to share their job and salary statistics is Singapore’s NUS Business School, ranked 4th in Asia in in the Global 200 Business Schools Report. NUS updated its MBA Graduate Employment page recently with information about their class of 2014.

Employment rate and salaries for NUS MBAs are up compared to last year.

Employment Rate for NUS MBA Class of 2014 Slightly Higher than Last Year

A total of 98% of 2014 NUS MBA graduates found a job within three months of graduation. This represents a 6% increase compared to a 92% employment rate for the class of 2013.

NUS Business School does not provide information on the number of on-campus recruiters or which companies hired students from the NUS MBA Class of 2014. What we do know, however, is that the majority of the class (94%) found jobs through NUS – a figure that’s the same as last year’s.

Most NUS MBA graduates took jobs in finance, technology and consulting. The percentage of 2014 NUS MBA students working in finance is the same as that for 2013 – 34%. The percentage of NUS MBA students working in consulting has gone up from 11% last year to 12% this year. The percentage of students working in technology, however, has gone down slightly from 22% last year to 19% this year.

NUS Business School’s Post-MBA Salary Figures Are Higher Compared to Last Year

The average, median and maximum MBA salaries for NUS Business School graduates are up compared to last year. It should be noted that, like CEIBS , NUS Business School has changed its reporting methodology this year. According to Christopher Chong, the manager of media relations at NUS Business School, the 2013 numbers published on NUS’ website reflect both base salary and other compensation whereas this year’s numbers only reflect base salary. While the NUS MBA Graduate Employment page for 2014 only shows the base salary, NUS Business School provided TopMBA.com with the total base salary and compensation so we could do an apples-to-apples comparison.

This year’s mean base salary is $S85,321 (US$64,240), but when combined with other compensation this amount goes up to $S94,434 (US$75,529). This total amount represents a twelve percent increase compared to last year’s figure of S$82,825 for both the base MBA salary and other compensation. The maximum MBA salary (base salary plus other compensation) is S$187,875, up S$37,875 from last year. As for the median MBA salary, the median base salary is S$82,184 for the class of 2014, but when you add in other compensation the total is S$91,800 (US$73,422). Compared to last year’s figure of S$88,200 for both base salary and other compensation, this is a 4% increase.
